Boil notice lifted from Achill water supply

A boil notice which was put in place in on Achill's local water supply following an outbreak of gastroenteritis at a Co Mayo nursing home has been lifted.

More than 20 residents and staff were struck by the illness at St Fionna's Community Nursing Unit.

The outbreak has been blamed on the winter vomiting bug, and had no connection to the local water supply.

Residents suffering from the illness are said to be recovering well.
