Cowen denies Monageer cover-up accusations
Taoiseach Brian Cowen has denied that there was any cover-up of information relating to the Monageer tragedy in Co Wexford.
Cowen was speaking in the Dáil today following the publication of yesterday's report into the deaths of the Dunne family in April 2007.
The report says it is unlikely the deaths could have been prevented, even if gardaí and social workers had called to the Dunne house on the weekend of the tragedy.
However, large sections of the document, including several of its recommendations, were blacked out, prompting Opposition claims of a cover-up.
Mr Cowen insisted today that the blacked-out sections were censored for legal reasons.
