The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) has defended its dramatic new cost-cutting plan as being necessary to secure the future of the country's three main airports.

The DAA unveiled details today of proposals to cut 400 jobs and implement a pay freeze for all staff in Dublin, Cork and Shannon.
