A new bridge for the River Liffey is due to arrive at Dublin Port today after a week-long journey by sea from the Netherlands.

The 120-metre Samuel Beckett bridge will link Guild Street on the north quays with Sir John Rogerson's Quay on the south of the river.

It was designed by Dr Santiago Calatrava Valls and constructed in the Netherlands.

The bridge has four traffic lanes, cycle tracks and footpaths and will be able to rotate 90 degrees to facilitate maritime traffic.
