Cowen: EU critical to Ireland’s future

Ireland's involvement in the European Union is now more critical than ever, according to Taoiseach Brian Cowen.

Speaking to mark Europe Day, Cowen said our membership of the EU is vital to our economic future.

He added that the EU is playing a pivotal role in helping Ireland to handle the recession.
