Dublin-born soldier killed in Afghanistan
A 22-year-old soldier from Dublin has been killed while serving with the British Army in Afghanistan.
Corporal Seán Binnie was born in Dublin to Scottish parents and joined the British Army in 2003 – he was one of three soldiers killed in a fire fight with insurgents in Helmand province on Thursday.
He served in Iraq and the Falkland Islands before deploying to Afghanistan in March as a mentor, living and working with Afghan soldiers.
His 21-year-old wife of six months, Amanda, has spoken of her devastation at losing her 'hero'.
