Nurses at Sligo General to strike

Some 600 nurses at Sligo General Hospital have voted in favour of strike action, claiming staff shortages have hit critical levels.

Following a ballot of its members at the facility, the Irish Nurses Organisation has served strike notice on the HSE.

The action will begin with a one day work-stoppage later this month unless the HSE agrees to replace vacant nursing posts in Sligo.
