Marriage rights the main issue for LGBT community
Marriage rights are the main priority for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in Ireland, according to a survey due out today.
The results of the questionnaire, which gauges issues of importance to the LGBT community, are due to be presented to the National Lesbian and Gay Federation in Dublin.
Marriage rights were the top priority for more than 40% of respondents and were among the top three issues for more than half of all those surveyed.
The Government has proposed civil partnership rights for gay couples, but campaigners say they will not be happy with anything less than full marriage rights.
