Financial Regulator publishes recession survival guide
The Financial Regulator today published tips and information on its personal finance website itsyourmoney.ie, to help consumers manage their money and deal with debts during the recession.
The 'Recession Survival Guide' also contains information to help consumers cope with the financial implications of job insecurity, pay cuts and redundancy.
Consumer director and acting chief executive of the Financial Regulator, Mary O'Dea said: "In the current climate, naturally people are worried about how they will manage on a lower income and many are concerned about their job security.
"Our recent research into financial capability shows that many people do not take the necessary steps to plan ahead for unexpected expenses.
"Personal finance planning is a good discipline no matter what your circumstances are. Our information is a one-stop-shop that can help you prepare for, and cope with, tough times, by managing your finances more effectively."
