Fianna Fáil MEP Sean O'Neachtain is to step down at the next European Parliament elections in June, it was announced this afternoon.

Fianna Fáil MEP Sean O'Neachtain is to step down at the next European Parliament elections in June, it was announced this afternoon.

The North and West constituency MEP said it was one of the toughest decisions of his life, but that he felt he had no option because of concerns about his health.

He took the decision as a result of medical advice.
