Motorcyclist killed in Co Laois road crash

A motorcyclist has been killed in a road accident in Co Laois today.

The 35-year-old man died after his motorbike crashed and a car were in collision near Rathdowney on the Abbeyleix to Rathdowney road shortly before midday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem examination will be carried out at Portlaoise General Hospital this evening.

The road is closed and a full investigation is underway.
