Man in serious condition after Dublin assault

A man is in a serious condition in hospital following an assault outside Whelan's pub in Dublin city centre over the weekend.

The 22-year-old victim was taken to St James's Hospital after the assault on Camden Row at around 1am on Sunday morning.

He was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for a serious head injury.

He is still in the hospital's intensive care unit today.

Gardaí at Kevin Street are appealing for information about the attack.
