Security alert disrupts traffic in Newtownabbey

Traffic on the outskirts of Belfast is being disrupted again today following the discovery of a suspicious device in Newtownabbey.

Diversions are in place on the Ballyhill Road while bomb disposal experts examine the package.

The incident appears to be the latest in a string of hoax bomb alerts that are being blamed on dissident republicans.

The alerts have caused significant traffic disruption in Belfast and other areas on an almost daily basis for the past few weeks.
