Three still in custody in relation to Limerick gun murder

Gardaí in Limerick are continuing to question three people this morning in connection with the murder of Limerick businessman Roy Collins last week.

The 35-year-old died after being shot in the chest at an amusement arcade in the Roxboro Shopping Centre last Tuesday.

Gardaí are investigating the possibility that the killing was a revenge attack by one of Limerick's notorious drugs gangs.

Mr Collins' cousin had given evidence against a leading figure in one of the gangs during a court case a number of years ago.

Two men aged 19 and 22 were arrested shortly after the shooting and had their periods of detention extended by 48 hours at a court sitting yesterday.

A woman in her 20s was also arrested in Limerick yesterday as part of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, Limerick City Council is due to open a book of condolence for Mr Collins today.
