Labour Court to clarify Dublin Bus proposals

The Labour Court is due to issue its final word today on the dispute surrounding cost-cutting plans at Dublin Bus.

The Labour Court is due to issue its final word today on the dispute surrounding cost-cutting plans at Dublin Bus.

The dispute has been running since Dublin Bus announced its controversial plan to take 120 buses out of service and lay-off 160 drivers.

The company says the cuts are necessary to avoid losses of more than €30m this year.

However, SIPTU and the NBRU have both threatened strike action if any changes are imposed without agreement.

Last week, drivers attached to the two unions rejected compromise proposals put forward by the Labour Court.

The court is due to issue clarifications on those proposals today and both sides have been warned it will be its final intervention in the dispute.
