Thousands attend funeral of Garda McCallion

Thousands of people have packed the town of Swinford in Co. Mayo for the funeral of Garda Robert McCallion.

600 gardaí are among the mourners at this afternoon's funeral mass at Our Lady Help of the Christians Church.

Garda McCallion died in hospital last week, nearly two weeks after he was hit by a stolen car while on duty in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.

The 29-year-old will be laid to rest at Kilconduff Cemetery in Swinford this afternoon.
