Pay expected to dominate INTO conference
It is expected the issue of pay will dominate the agenda at this annual conference of the Irish National Teachers Organisation.
Around 800 delegates are in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal for the event, which begins this evening.
The cutbacks in the education sector will be the main topic of discussion with many of the proposed motions focusing on the pension and income levies.
Recent measures introduced by the Government as a result of the country's economic problems have led to much anger amongst teachers.
Minister for Education, Batt O'Keeffe, will attend the conference tomorrow to hear in person what delegates have to say.
The event, which last three days, gets underway this evening.
