Funeral for Garda McCallion in Co. Mayo

The funeral of Garda Robert McCallion, who died after being struck by a stolen car, will take place later today.

The 29-year-old was hit by the vehicle as he responded to a call at a housing estate in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal on March 26.

He was critically injured in the crash and passed away at Dublin's Beaumont Hospital last Tuesday.

Two men have been charged in connection with the incident.

Garda McCallion will be laid to rest at Kilconduff Cemetery in his home town of Swinford, Co. Mayo following a state funeral at 1pm at Our Lady Help of the Christians Church.
