Group slams Govt for scrapping security scheme

It has been claimed that thousands of older people are facing an increased risk of robbery due to Budget cut-backs.

Friends of the Elderly is hitting out at the Government for scrapping the Community Support Scheme for Older People in Tuesday's Budget.

The scheme helped older people to make their homes safer by installing special security features.

Dermot Kirwan from Friends of the Elderly said they are now left in a vulnerable position.
