Man killed in Limerick shooting
A man has been shot dead in Limerick city.
The gun attack happened at the Steering Wheel bar in Roxboro shopping centre, close to the city centre, shortly after noon.
Emergency services and gardaí were called to the scene around 12.10pm. Gardaí said the man was rushed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, where he subsequently died.
Gardai said a man in his early 20s was arrested and is being held under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act at Roxboro Road Garda station.
The dead man was aged in his late 20s.
The scene has been sealed off and the state pathologist and garda technical bureau have been called in.
A garda spokeswoman said: “Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information to offer are asked to contact gardaí at Roxboro Road.”
