Two men arrested in connection with fatal stabbing

Two men were arrested today over the killing of a Limerick teenager almost three weeks ago.

Darren Bennett was stabbed to death during a row outside a house on Creaval Park, Moyross, Co Limerick, in the early hours of March 18.

The 18-year-old’s death is believed to be linked to a local feud with another family in the Moyross area and was not related to gangland crime in the city.

Gardaí said the two suspects, both aged in their 30s, were arrested in Limerick this morning.

“One male is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Mayorstone Garda Station and the second male is detained under Sect 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Henry Street Garda Station,” a spokesman added.

A squad of armed gardaí were drafted into the northside suburb to keep the peace after the teenager was killed.
