An expert group has been set up to look at how money is spent in the health system, headed by the director of the Economic and Social Research Institute Professor Frances Ruane.

An expert group has been set up to look at how money is spent in the health system, headed by the director of the Economic and Social Research Institute Professor Frances Ruane.

The group is aiming to come up with innovative ways of reforming the system to make the money follow the patient.

One of the schemes that will be considered is incentivising hospitals for lower lengths of stay and providing more day care treatments.
