Fine Gael calls for Fingleton to resign
Fine Gael is calling for the resignation of Michael Fingleton as chief executive of Irish Nationwide.
It comes following yesterday's announcement from Mr Fingleton that he will voluntarily return his controversial €1m bonus.
In a statement he insisted that he was legally entitled to the bonus but that he wanted to bring the matter to a close because of the effect it was having on his family.
The bonus was paid to Mr Fingleton in the weeks after the Government's bank guarantee scheme was announced.
Fine Gael's Deputy Finance Spokesperson Kieran O' Donnell said while it was the right thing to do, it is not enough.
