Labour announces candidate for European elections
Journalist Susan O'Keeffe, whose reporting sparked the Beef Tribunal, is running in the European elections in June for the Labour Party.
The announcement has just been made in Mullingar where the party begins its conference this evening.
Susan O'Keeffe risked jail rather than reveal her sources for the 'World in Action' programme broadcast in 1991 which rocked the political system alleging serious financial malpractice in the beef industry, leading to a three-year inquiry.
Ms. O'Keeffe is now contesting the North West constituency in the European elections where Libertas founder Declan Ganley is also running.
