TV3 scraps 'Sports Tonight' as part of cost-cutting plan

TV3's 'Sports Tonight' programme is being axed as part of a number of cost-cutting measures at the station announced this afternoon.

TV3's 'Sports Tonight' programme is being axed as part of a number of cost-cutting measures at the station announced this afternoon.

Twelve staff members from all areas of the company have also been made redundant with immediate effect.

Pay cuts averaging 7% for staff and 15% for executives have also been announced and will be introduced from next month, while contractors’ fees are being reduced in line with the pay cuts.

CEO of TV3 David McRedmond said he deeply regretted the redundancies and the pay cuts, but that the company had no choice in the current economic climate.
