Circuit Court judge Miriam Reynolds has today died at the age of 52 following an illness.

Circuit Court judge Miriam Reynolds has today died at the age of 52 following an illness.

The judge, from Mount Merrion in Dublin, was the state prosecutor for Donegal from 1990 until 1998, when she became a senior counsel.

She practised in the Central Criminal Court and concentrated on murder and rape trials.

In 2002, she became a Circuit Court judge and presided generally in the midlands and northern regions.

She also served as the chairperson of the Irish Women's Lawyers Association.
