Funeral of murdered soldier to take place today

The funeral of one of the British soldiers shot dead by dissident republicans in Co Antrim earlier this month is due take place later today.

The funeral of one of the British soldiers shot dead by dissident republicans in Co Antrim earlier this month is due take place later today.

Twenty-three-year-old Mark Quinsey was shot dead outside the Massareene barracks on March 7.

His 21-year-old comrade Patrick Azimkar was also killed in the Real IRA attack.

A military procession will accompany Mr Quinsey's coffin to Immanuel Church in Highters Heath in Birmingham for today's funeral service, which is expected to draw hundreds of mourners.

Mr Azimkar's funeral takes place in London on Friday.
