Around half a million people lined the streets of Dublin today for the annual St Patrick's Day parade.

It was just one of many events taking place around the country, and across the globe, to celebrate the day.

The parade was led by four grand marshals from the GAA, Henry Shefflin, Brian Dooher, Angela Walsh and Cathriona Foley, while the opening float was also a special tribute to 125 years of Gaelic Games.

A number of international acts also took part including marching bands from the US, Germany and Canada.
