Man faces 10 years for admitting possession of heroin

A 45-year-old south Dublin man faces a possible 10-year sentence after admitting possession of €27,000 of heroin in the city two years ago.

John Brannigan, of Ash Grove Avenue, The Coombe, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of the drugs for sale or supply at Rosary Road on October 1, 2007.

This offence carries a presumptive minimum sentence of 10-year imprisonment except in cases where a judge finds exceptional and specific circumstances.

Judge Katherine Delahunt set a sentence date in July when full facts will be heard in the case.
