Fáilte Ireland calls for Irish people to holiday in Ireland
The Irish tourist board is urging people to holiday in Ireland this year.
A study by Fáilte Ireland released today has shown that we took over four million holidays at home last year which is worth over €1bn to the industry.
The research also shows that 34% of people said the hassle of air and sea travel is the main reason for taking a holiday at home.
Regional director at Fáilte Ireland, John Concannon, said the industry is stepping up to the current economic challenges but this year will be a defining one for Irish tourism.
