Three prison officers hurt in Mountjoy incident

Three prison officers have been injured during an incident at Mountjoy Prison in Dublin this morning.

The altercation happened on the B wing landing after a number of inmates tried to remove a set of keys from an officer.

When the officer was rescued by other members of staff, prisoners proceeded to empty their chamber pots on the landing.

The situation was brought under control shortly afterwards and the landing was locked down.

One of the three injured prison officers has been taken to hospital for treatment.
