Almost 40% of adults without mortgages are thinking about buying a home in the next 18 months, according to Bank of Ireland.

The bank says 80% of respondents to a survey it commissioned ranked a house purchase as one of their top-three goals in life.

Half of the respondents said they believed there was good value in the property market at the moment.
