Conference for Independent politicians to be held in Westmeath

A national conference for Independent politicians is taking place in Co Westmeath today.

It has been organised by MEPs Marian Harkin and Kathy Synnott.

The conference, which is taking place in Athlone, will examine ways of winning a seat using modern technology.

Marian Harkin said it is daunting to enter politics outside of a party structure but that today's conference is about providing mutual support for Independents.
