Waterford workers to continue sit-in until manufacturing resumes

It is not yet clear how many of the 600 jobs at Waterford Crystal will be saved after it was confirmed that the company has been sold to private US equity firm KPS Capital.

The receiver, David Carson of Deloitte, yesterday confirmed KPS is purchasing certain overseas assets and businesses of the Waterford Wedgwood Group.

The development comes just four weeks after workers mounted a sit-in protest at the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre in Kilbarry.

Workers say they will not be moving until the fate of their jobs is known.
