Man injured in Down stabbing

A man is in a serious condition in hospital in the North after he was stabbed last night.

It happened in Newcastle in Co. Down shortly before midnight when the man was leaving his friends house on Burrendale Park Road.

He was attacked from behind and stabbed in the left side of his ribs.

The victim was able to make it back to his friend's home and was taken to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The PSNI are appealing for information.
