Cowen: I did not know identities of 'golden circle'

The Taoiseach tonight denied he knew the identities of 10 businessmen who bought a total of €300m worth of shares in Anglo Irish Bank before it was nationalised.

Opposition parties claimed the questionable purchases were intended to prop up the market value of the firm, which is currently being investigated by the Director of Corporate Enforcement.
