Bus strike set for February 28
Travel disruption is on the way for bus passengers in the next few weeks.
The National Bus and Rail Union has announced today that it is to hold a one-day strike on the February 28 and two further days of industrial action on the March 9 and 10.
The national executive of the union met today to decide what form of industrial action to take after their members yesterday gave a mandate to strike.
Workers at Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus are angry at plans by both companies to cut 600 jobs and withdraw up to 270 buses.
The NBRU's Michael Faherty says there is particular opposition to plans to let go 270 staff, who have been hired by both companies in recent weeks.
