Fitzpatrick lent large sums of foreign currency

Fresh allegations surrounding the activities of former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Seán Fitzpatrick have emerged this morning.

Mr Fitzpatrick was reportedly given tens of millions worth of sterling and dollar loans by Irish Nationwide in 2006 and 2007 as part of his controversial transfer of loans between Anglo and the building society.
