Teachers urged to join pension-levy demonstration

Teachers' trade unions are calling on all of their members to take part in next Saturday's national day of protest against the proposed pension levy on public servants.

The unions met for two hours in Dublin this morning before appealing to the Government to re-enter talks on the issue.

They say the levy unfairly targets ordinary public servants and are calling on their members to make next Saturday's demonstration "as forceful and as effective as possible".
