Labour Affairs Minister’s minimum wage comment sparks protest
Protests are taking place this afternoon outside the offices of Minister for Labour Affairs Billy Kelleher, following comments he made about the minimum wage.
Kelleher said last week that he hopes the current minimum wage of €8.65 an hour does not become a barrier to employment in this country.
He said the wage is being reviewed, and we need to be realistic about what companies can afford.
Members of the Workers Party are hitting out at the comments and are staging a picket outside the Minister's office at Dillon's Cross in Cork city.
