Gormley mounts staunch defence of Brian Lenihan

Green Party leader John Gormley has mounted a strong defence of the Minister for Finance today amid intense criticism of his handling of the Anglo Irish Bank nationalisation.

Yesterday, Brian Lenihan admitted that he only learned last month about the multi-billion euro deposit placed in Anglo by Irish Life & Permanent just before the end of Anglo's financial year last September.
