DSPCA worried about welfare of horses in urban areas
Concern is being raised over the welfare of horses in urban areas of Dublin.
The Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says it rescued a horse in Clondalkin in west Dublin this morning, suffering from horrific neck injuries because of an embedded rope.
Thirty horses have been found in the last four months, compared with 40 horses every 12 months in previous years.
The group is blaming the rising cost of keeping the horses for the increase.
