New arrest in loyalist murder probe
Another man was arrested today in connection with the murder of a leading loyalist during a bloody paramilitary feud in the North.
The 32-year-old is being questioned by detectives from the police’s Historic Enquiries Team about the killing of Ulster Defence Association member Tommy English in Belfast in October 2000.
English, 40, gunned down at his home in the north of the city, was one of several to die in a feud between the UDA and rival Ulster Volunteer Force.
Nine people have been arrested and charged by the HET in connection with the murder and membership of the UVF in the past few weeks.
One of them was senior UVF man and alleged police informer Mark Haddock who is currently nearing the end of a ten year sentence he is serving in the North's top security Maghaberry Prison for an assault on club doorman .
Mr English was part of a loyalist delegation which took part in talks at Stormont in the lead up to the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
