It is understood that any decision made does not preclude the resumption of some activity at the company, pending a possible takeover.

Approximately 100 workers are currently occupying the visitors’ gallery at Waterford Crystal, where they are being addressed by union officials.

It is also understood that minor scuffles have broken out with security staff.

Waterford Sinn Féin councillor Joe Kelly has called on the Government to intervene.

The firm has been in receivership for the past four weeks.
