Govt to unveil spending cuts in days

A deal to cut €2bn in public spending in 2009 will be revealed within a week, the Taoiseach said tonight.

Brian Cowen told the Dáil that he expected an outcome on intensive talks with the social partners in coming days and the framework will be published on Tuesday.
