Talks on economic recovery plan to resume today

Government officials are due to meet employers and trade union representatives today for further talks on how to address the massive deficit in Ireland's public finances.

Yesterday, Justice Minister Dermot Ahern insisted that cuts in public-sector pay would be on the table, despite the fact that several unions have warned the move would be illegal.
