Number of cars being licensed down 19% in 2008

The number of new cars licensed last year was down almost one-fifth on the figure for 2007, according to the latest figures from the CSO.

The statistics agency says almost 146,500 new cars were licensed during 2008, a 19% fall on the previous year.
