INO says Govt cannot legally cut public-service pay

The Irish Nurses Organisation says the Government cannot legally reduce the pay of nurses and midwives as part of efforts to introduce major cuts in public spending.

Several senior ministers have been warning that civil and public servants will have to accept pay cuts as the coalition seeks to slash €2bn in spending this year.
