Govt threatened with legal action over Waterford pensions

Legal action may be taken against the Government to secure the pensions of workers at Waterford Crystal.

More than 500 current and retired workers have been briefed on the latest efforts to save manufacturing in Waterford and protect pensions.

The Unite trade union has been holding separate talks with the Government and prospective buyers of the company, KPS Capital Partners.

Jimmy Kelly from Unite said the lack of legislation underpinning an EU Directive on pension protection is a major issue.
