Man appears in court in connection with Kilkenny fire deaths

A man in his 20s has appeared before a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court charged in connection with the murder of a woman and the deaths of her two children.

Brian Hennessy, who has an address at Windgap in Co Kilkenny, is accused of the murder of 30-year-old Sharon Whelan last month.

He was also charged with two counts of criminal damage.

Mr Hennessy has been remanded in custody to appear before Kilkenny District Court again on Tuesday.
